dork
4 songs
scheduled for release:
december 20, 1992
not released until
march 2, 1993
released by key lime
pie records
dork was afi's first
release. the pressing
run was a mere 210.
six test pressings
were made on yellow
vinyl with white center
labels. three of the
tests went to jade
puget and the other
three to geoff kresge
(afi's old bass player).
the whereabouts of
these six records
is unknown, save two.
one of which geoff
still owns and another
owned by matt wedgley.
there is also a variant
cover for dork. it
is slightly smaller
and the inside is
completely blank.
only a few of these
covers were ever released,
but only to the band
and their friends.
six
to ten more copies,
with hand colored
center labels as well
as the logo on the
cover, were released
to several labels
and magazines. one
went to tim armstrong
and matt freeman,
of rancid, another
one went to fat mike
at fat wreck chords.
these records also
had the word "promotional"
etched into the run-off
groove of the record.
another ukiah band,
loose change, appeared
on this seven inch.
their side was called
"stick around". on
the afore-mentioned
"promotional" copies,
loose change's side
was not hand colored.
fyi: jade puget plays
guitar with loose
change.
around
1994 a reissue was
considered. the reissue
would be called "afi
e.p." and would only
feature afi tracks
(not loose change's).
the tracks on the
reissue were to be
remixed and pressed
on red vinyl. the
song "mini trucks
suck" was also going
to be included. however,
plans to release this
were dropped due to
lack of interest on
the part of the band.
