behind the times had an initial pressing of 400. the first four to ten test copies had large center holes with generic factory labels. behind the times also had various covers. due to printing delays, approximately 30-50 copies were issued with temporary covers that had been photocopied from the original cover art.

records with such covers also came with an different insert. these inserts could be redeemed at shows in exchange for the real cover. however, many of the inserts were not redeemed and many of the covers sat, unused, in storage for quite some time. to solve the overstock problem afi decided to reissue "behind the times" in early 1994.

they pressed an extra 100, however, there weren't quite enough covers to go around. these coverless records were either given away at shows or sold for less than the usual cost, $3.
